Jennifer Georgette Photography
Areas of the world you Serve:
Based out of Alberta, Canada but will travel wherever my passport will take me.
Tell us a little bit about yourself:
I am a wedding and lifestyle photographer based out of Red Deer, Alberta. Although I currently live in Alberta, I have also had the pleasure of living in two other provinces, Saskatchewan and Newfoundland. All three are very different in terms of landscape and lifestyle, but each are equally amazing. I have a wonderful boyfriend who helps me out during weddings, and an adorable cat who loves to be my model (sometimes..) I love to shoot in natural light but sometimes i like to mix it up with some studio lighting.
How did you get started in photography?
Growing up my mother always had a camera in her hand. It didn’t matter if there was an event or not, she was always asking us to smile. At the time I hated it, so as soon as I was old enough I would ask to take the picture instead of being in the picture. Back then it was film, and I loved click and wind of it and then the exciting moment when you’d pick them up at the store. Since then I had always had a strong interest in photography but it wasn’t until about 3 years ago that I finally got the courage to learn manual mode and I haven’t looked back.
What genre do you shoot?
I mostly shoot weddings and engagements but I also love shooting lifestyle sessions.
Who or what inspires you?
I am inspired by the beauty in every day things. I love simple moments between loved ones or just how the light looks at a certain time of day.
What kind of camera bag do you carry and what’s in it?
I carry a bookbag that i purchased on Aliexpress. I got it when I was first starting out and it has lasted this long with no damage at all. In it I carry My Canon 6D, Sigma Art 24mm, Canon 85mm 1.8, Canon 100mm 2.8.
What are some of your favorite photography products?
I love the Sigma Art series! My 24 is my favorite lens and hardly leaves my camera. My next purchase will be the Art 50mm.
Three random things about yourself:
I could watch cat videos for hours (so funny).
I have visited every province in Canada.
I can make my eyes shake.
Best piece of advice you’ve received?
Don’t give up!
Any advice you’d like to share?
Don’t give up!!! I have felt down so many times and felt like giving up or that I was never good enough… I still feel like that! But when I look back at when i first started I have come so far and will continue to grow and get better.
