Tell us a little bit about yourself:
I am a mama, and a wife, living life in good old New England. I almost always have my camera around my neck, running from place to place with my kiddos, trying to balance being in the moment but also capturing the moment. I am super laid back, almost to a fault at times. I talk, a lot. I love people, I laugh, a lot, and loud. I am a sunset loving, obsessed photographer, and I love capturing moments, and feelings and the not so posed lifestyle images always mean the most to me. This is seriously my dream job, and I have worked super hard to get here, but have enjoyed every single minute of it. Photography is just a part of me, it is who I am, it has my heart for sure and always will.
How did you get started in photography?
My husband surprised me with camera about 6 years ago, I was scared to use it at first! But once I got over that fear, I don’t know if I ever looked back. I loved learning all about my camera, and the art of photography. I read and practiced on my kids every moments everyday, I was literally obsessed, (I might still be!) I completely taught myself how to shoot on manual, I winked say it wasn’t easy, but once it clicked, I couldn’t believe it took me that long to get it! I still love learning and continue to grow and develop as an artist every day.
What genre do you shoot?
Newborns, lifestyle family and newborns, family, and weddings. I only do a few weddings a year, because I love all my other sessions too much to give them up.
Who or what inspires you?
My kids inspire me, my crazy chaotic life inspires me. For photographers I love Sarah-Beth photography, My four Hens, and the Blissful Maven. I also love Elise Meader, she is local to me and started about the same time I did, and I love seeing how amazing she is and how hard she has worked too.
What kind of camera bag do you carry and what’s in it?
I have the mustard yellow shutter bag…I have a D750, an 85 1.4 and a sigma art 35. Simple. That’s it. Plus a few random toys, a water bottle, and snacks. I love food and I am a mama, I have food hidden everywhere.
Three random things about yourself:
I am obsessed with super intense workouts, it’s my therapy.
I am so not shy and will talk with anyone and everyone.
I love dogs, like the type of person that pulls the car over if there is a cute puppy walking down the street, kinda person.
Best piece of advice you’ve received?
Be authentic, be you…don’t judge you or your work according to anyone else, this is my story and so different from anyone else.
Any advice you’d like to share?
BE authentic, don’t worry what others are doing all worry about what you are doing. And to never give up, whatever your goals are, always strive to achieve them. It truly believe you can do anything you put your mind to.
