Tell us a little bit about yourself:
My family knows me by Alysia, but to everyone else I am Al. I am a wife and mother to the silliest guys around. My life consists of running around with my crazy boys, watching cartoons and making messes in the kitchen. No one day is ever the same, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

How did you get started in photography?
I’ve always had a love for photography, that was apparent as a child. I loved looking at picture books, especially of the ocean and ocean life. I always felt an image could tell me more than the words accompanying the photo. As a child I loved being photographed, but as a teenager my focus grew to being on the other side of the camera.

What do you shoot?
I love all genres of photography, but my love for photography lies in maternity, newborns and children. It truly makes me happy being surrounded by children and seeing beautiful pregnant bellies. I’m a big kid myself and enjoy being silly and capturing giggles and silly faces.

Who or what inspires you?
My family inspires me. They are all so supportive and wish to see me be happy while doing something I love.

What kind of camera bag do you carry and what’s in it?
I have a small grey patronics back back I got long ago, but don’t have the heart to get anything more stylish because it gets the job done. In it I carry my 1-D Mark II, 6D, 85mm and 50mm.

What are some of your favorite photography products?
I absolutely love my Canon 50mm lens, Spyder 4 calibrator, and my wacom tablet!

Three random things about yourself:
1. I love Sock Monkeys
2. I suffered from anxiety and depression, which photography has helped me over come.
3. I lived in Okinawa, Japan

Best piece of advice you’ve received?
My dad told me don’t ever think you know enough… continue to learn and then learn some more.

Any advice you’d like to share?
Art is subjective and not EVERY person is going to like what you have to show. Don’t take it personally, just find your own way and most importantly find what makes YOU happy.

Mac or PC? Photoshop or Lightroom?
Mac and Photoshop CS6
